Klamath County, Oregon – This week is a turning point for Klamath County Fire District #1 since they are officially welcoming a new leader. Brent Knutson has officially been sworn in as Fire Chief. This is the next step in a career that has been established inside the organization and shaped by years of service to the community.
Chief Knutson takes over after being the district’s Operations Chief, meaning he worked directly with firefighters, medics, and support staff at all levels of the department. That experience has helped him learn a lot about how things work on a daily basis, what the district needs from the inside, and what the public expects from it. His advancement is based on a history of consistent leadership and a strong understanding of the people and objectives of the organization.

Being in charge of a fire district means more than just having a job title. The Fire Chief is in charge of making sure that teams are trained, equipped, and supported, as well as setting clear standards and guiding the long-term direction of the department.

The job also includes making difficult decisions, being responsible, and finding a balance between being ready for anything and earning the trust of the people in the district.
As Fire Chief, Knutson steps into a position that requires honoring the work and legacy of those who came before him while continuing to move the district forward. The job requires professionalism, transparency, and a dedication to public safety, as well as support for the men and women who respond to emergencies every day.
Klamath County Fire District #1 will continue to be stable and reliable with Chief Knutson’s swearing-in. The district is confident that it can keep serving the community with strength, readiness, and purpose because it has a leader that knows the organization from the inside.
