Klamath Falls, Oregon – A haircut, a color treatment or a carefully finished set of nails may look effortless from the salon chair. Behind the result, however, are hours of training, technical knowledge and hands-on practice.
Klamath Community College is now building a place where more students can develop those skills. Construction has officially begun on a new, state-of-the-art Cosmetology facility designed to expand beauty education in the Klamath Basin and provide additional services for the surrounding community.
The new building will include modern classrooms, contemporary salon areas and industry-standard equipment. Each part of the facility is being planned to reflect the conditions students are likely to encounter in today’s beauty and wellness industry.
That practical setting will allow students to move beyond textbooks and strengthen their abilities through direct experience. By learning in professional-style spaces and working with current equipment, participants will have an opportunity to build both technical skills and confidence before entering the workforce.

The project will also increase the capacity of KCC’s Cosmetology Program. With more space available for instruction and salon-based training, the college will be able to broaden educational opportunities for people interested in pursuing careers within the field.
For KCC, the construction is part of a wider commitment to workforce development and career and technical education. These programs are intended to connect classroom instruction with employment needs, helping students prepare for careers that require specialized, job-ready skills.
Beauty and wellness work continues to change as techniques, equipment and customer expectations evolve. The new facility is being developed with that changing environment in mind, giving students a learning space that more closely matches the workplaces they may join after completing their education.
The building is also expected to strengthen the connection between the college and the community. Its salon spaces will support hands-on student learning while creating opportunities for community members to engage with the program and its services after the facility opens.
KCC has not yet announced a completion or opening date, but the start of construction marks a major step toward welcoming students and residents into the new space.
