Klamath County School District celebrates grand opening of Bonanza Schools’ new 16,422-square-foot gymnasium on October 4

Bonanza, Oregon – A buzz of excitement fills the air as the local community and Bonanza Schools get ready for a significant expansion to their sports and learning facilities.  The Klamath County School District is scheduled to mark a major milestone this Friday, October 4th at 1 p.m.: the grand opening of a brand-new 16,422-square-foot gymnasium at the Bonanza Schools site. The event is public and promises an afternoon of pride and communal energy.

Incorporating two full-size basketball courts, the new gymnasium is a beautiful construction with a variety of amenities including contemporary locker rooms, a well-stocked concession area, and seating for more than 800 spectators. This area is meant to be the hub for community meetings and school activities in addition to hosting neighborhood athletic events.

Jordan Osborn, the principal of Bonanza Jr/Sr High School, expressed his enthusiasm about the new facility.

“This new gym will benefit the whole community,” said Jordan Osborn. “The most powerful part about this project is the increased opportunities it provides our kids for generations to come.” “We’re thankful for the district and the school board for making this happen,” he added.

Under the joint direction of Soderstrom Architects and Kinsman Construction, the gymnasium’s building started in August 2023 was Federal ESSER relief funds provided the financing for this large-scale project, therefore underscoring the value of community and educational growth within the priorities of the school system.

Set for the day following the opening, the first event in the gymnasium is the Antler Classic Volley Tournament. This event is evidence of the school’s commitment to improve athletic programming and student involvement and will set the stage for next sports events.
