Klamath County warns of up to 20 minutes traffic delays due to multiple ongoing infrastructure projects this week

Klamath Falls, Oregon – A number of significant infrastructure projects set for the week of September 23, 2024 have been announced by Klamath County. To guarantee the safety of the public and construction crews, residents as well as visitors are recommended to be ready for slight delays and to, if at all feasible, thinking other routes.

Among the major initiatives is replacing the sidewalks along Shasta Way from Madison Street to Patterson Street. Flaggers will be on site to control traffic flow and this work will call for daytime travel lane restrictions. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and follow flaggers’ instructions.

Near Stearns Elementary School, major road and utility construction is scheduled to start down Laverne Avenue from Altamont to Crest. Like the Shasta Way project, this will entail daytime lane closures controlled by flaggers, meant to minimize disturbance during these necessary renovations.

Between Shasta Way and S. 6th Street, on Arthur Street, the waterline replacement is another major project. This project will also feature daytime travel lane closures with flagging personnel in place to direct traffic and ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety.

Saddle Mountain Pit Road will also see a bridge closing; a detour road was established via Switchback Road and Forest Service Road 150. This detour is meant to give travelers a safe substitute alternative while bridge repairs are under progress.

Klamath County Public Works notes that although declining stations will be located at work zone exits, delays ranging to up to 20 minutes should be expected. These delays are a result of the attempts to minimize annoyance and give safety top priority. The county also points out that unanticipated events including weather, equipment problems, or material availability could cause timetable changes. If work is not obviously visible, residents are advised not to get in touch with the county since projects may have been finished ahead of time or could be rescheduled.
