Public Works crews prepare busy maintenance schedule across Klamath Falls streets

Klamath Falls, Oregon – Road work will shape several busy areas of Klamath Falls this week as the city’s Public Works crews move ahead with paving, striping, sign repairs and street sweeping.

The City of Klamath Falls Public Works Streets Division announced a short schedule of maintenance work running from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, through Friday, May 29, 2026, with several projects planned across the city. All work is weather permitting, meaning schedules may shift if conditions do not allow crews to safely continue.

The most noticeable traffic impact is expected on Laguna and Old Fort Road, where the asphalt crew is scheduled to grind and repave sections of roadway from Tuesday through Thursday. Crews will work from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. During that time, the road will be reduced to one lane of traffic, and flaggers will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone.

The paving work is part of the city’s regular street maintenance effort, aimed at keeping local roads in better condition before problems grow larger. For drivers, however, the improvement will come with temporary delays. Motorists traveling through the area should slow down, watch for workers and be ready for changing traffic patterns.

Another crew will begin even earlier in the day. From Tuesday through Friday, the paint crew is scheduled to work from 3 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on South 6th Street, between Bridge and Austin Street. That work will focus on painting crosswalks and roadway legends, helping refresh markings used by both drivers and pedestrians.

While paving and painting take place in specific locations, other Public Works activity will be spread more broadly. From Monday, May 26, through Friday, May 29, crews assigned to signs and sweeping will work from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. fixing signs and sweeping city streets as needed.

The Streets Division, based at 1199 S. Spring St., is asking the public to be aware of the crews and equipment operating throughout the week. Residents with questions can contact the Public Works Streets Division at 541-883-5385.

The work may bring brief inconvenience, but it also marks the steady, behind-the-scenes care that keeps Klamath Falls moving, one repaved stretch, one fresh crosswalk and one cleaned street at a time.
