Klamath Falls, Oregon – Amazon, the global e-commerce giant, has officially opened a new delivery station in Klamath Falls signaling a significant boost in economic activity and employment opportunities for the region. Located at 6250 Altamont Dr., the facility covers more than 19,000 square feet and is meant to improve the process of delivery for many clients across the Klamath Basin and Southern Oregon.
The operational start of this new station is expected to generate about 100 jobs, ranging from technical to package handling, thus providing the surrounding population significant employment possibilities. This expansion fits well with Amazon’s larger effort to raise delivery speed and service quality in general.
“This delivery station is part of Amazon’s commitment to supporting communities across Southern Oregon,” said Easton Craft, Manager, Economic Development Policy at Amazon, in a press release. “We’re excited to invest in Klamath Falls, creating good jobs and improving delivery speed and reliability for families and small businesses throughout the region.”
Having entered Oregon in 2010, Amazon has made major economic contributions to the state by spending almost $37 billion in infrastructure and staff compensation. Along with increasing Oregon’s GDP by $22 billion, these expenditures have helped to create almost 11,000 full-time and part-time jobs. Furthermore, the knock-on effects of Amazon’s presence have supported 46,300 more jobs in professional services, shipping, and construction among other industries.
