Broadening the decision-making process

Local policies are significantly influenced by these committees, which also guarantee the consideration of the various requests and points of view of Klamath County residents.

Opportunities for involvement

Each committee offers a distinct focus area, appealing to a range of interests and expertise:

  1. Elected Officials Compensation Board: This board has one opening. It operates under Oregon Revised Statute 204.112, requiring members well-versed in personnel and compensation management. The board’s primary responsibility is reviewing and recommending compensation schedules for county elected officials, with final approvals lying with the County Budget Committee.

  3. Local Alcohol and Drug Planning Committee: Two spots are open here. The committee’s mission is to advocate for and enhance drug and alcohol prevention and treatment services through community-based resources. It emphasizes culturally sensitive approaches and aims to forge community partnerships to support individuals and families dealing with substance issues.
  4. Roads Advisory Committee: This committee, which emphasizes long-term strategic planning for the growth and enhancement of Klamath County’s road system, needs one position filled. It aims to promote cooperation between private businesses and several tiers of government.
  5. Klamath Housing Authority: The housing authority looks for one new board member. As a quasi-governmental body, the board’s responsibilities include overseeing the executive director, policy formulation, and financial supervision.
