Klamath County, Oregon – Chiloquin Jr/Sr High School is preparing for a major milestone as it opens the doors to its brand-new gymnasium next week. The school will hold a public grand opening ceremony at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, to celebrate the completion of a project that has been in the works for more than two years. community members, students, and families are welcome to come and see the newly constructed area for themselves.
The celebration will include several speakers, a ribbon-cutting, and a formal ceremony honoring the work that went into bringing the building to life. Guests will also be able to take guided tours of the building, which will show them the layout and attractions before the sporting activities start. The gym will open its doors to supporters of high school basketball later in the afternoon. Free hot dogs will be provided during the games. The first game is slated to start at 4 p.m., and the fun will last far into the evening.
In August 2023, construction began, turning designs and money into a building that is now ready for use. The new gym, which is a separate structure that is 11,580 square feet, was completely funded by federal ESSER relief funding. There is a concession area, new bleachers, and seating for several hundred people at the facility. This update is supposed to make the experience better for both competitors and fans.
During the whole process, the Klamath County School District’s maintenance and project staff worked closely with Diversified Contractors and a number of subcontractors. Their work brought together design, construction, and finishing elements to make sure the gym will be ready for both students and community events.
The school is now in a new phase that will help with sports, events, and building school spirit. The grand opening is not just the inauguration of a new building; it is also the opening of a common place that will be used by students now and in the future.
