Klamath County Library invites residents to take first steps toward smoke free living with guided weekly sessions

Klamath Falls, Oregon – A new opportunity is taking shape in Klamath Falls for those ready to leave smoking behind, offering structure, support, and a clear path forward. Beginning April 14, the Downtown Library will host a weekly series designed to help individuals take meaningful steps toward quitting for good.

The program, scheduled every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., will run for eight consecutive weeks. Each session is built to guide participants through the process of breaking nicotine dependence, combining practical tools with steady encouragement. The setting is simple and familiar, yet the goal is life-changing.

Led by a certified facilitator, the sessions follow a proven framework developed to address both the physical and mental challenges of quitting. Participants will explore how to determine their readiness to quit, understand available medications that may improve success, and learn how everyday habits can either support or undermine their efforts.

As the weeks progress, the focus shifts toward preparation and resilience. Attendees will work through strategies to handle cravings, manage stress, and avoid common setbacks such as weight gain. The course also places strong emphasis on long-term success, helping individuals build routines that support a smoke-free lifestyle well beyond the final session.

Flexibility is built into the early stages of the program. For the first four weeks, individuals can attend without prior registration, making it easier for those who may still be unsure or hesitant. At the same time, organizers encourage participants to sign up in advance to help gauge interest and ensure resources are aligned with demand.

The sessions will take place at the Klamath County Library, located at 126 South 3rd Street, providing a central and accessible space for the community. Behind the program is a broader effort to connect residents with reliable, evidence-based support, reinforcing the idea that quitting is not something anyone has to face alone.

With consistent guidance, a supportive environment, and a structured plan, the upcoming sessions aim to turn intention into action, one week at a time.
