Klamath Falls, Oregon – The City of Klamath Falls and Downtown Klamath Falls are looking forward to bring back the seasonal summer Pedlet/Parklet Program for its fifth year as the warmer months draw near. Local eateries trying to increase their outdoor eating possibilities have warmly welcomed this program.
Restaurants in the Pedlet/Parklet Program can either expand their dining space into the sidewalk in front of their business or into nearby parking areas. This adaptability guarantees that walkers may nonetheless safely traverse the area. Specifically, a “pedlet” builds a transient path rerouting pedestrians around the enlarged sidewalk dining area. On the other hand, a “parklet” maintains the sidewalk clear for foot circulation by using adjacent parking spaces for dining.
The City of Klamath Falls has worked with Healthy Klamath this year to build two new pedlets. Local businesses can access these via a competitive application process. Given the program’s popularity, demand for these pedlets is anticipated to exceed supply.
Applications are due by April 4th. For companies looking to provide a special dining experience, though, the option to build their own pedlet or parklet stays available; applications are continuously accepted.
Those interested may locate the Seasonal Parklet/Pedlet Manual and application papers on the City’s official website. The City Development Services offers more help by phone at (541) 883-4950 or email: [email protected].
The program not only intends to improve the vibrancy of downtown Klamath Falls but also helps local restaurants by offering more dining space throughout the busy summer season. City officials and restaurant operators are both eager for another successful season of more outdoor activity and dining in the core of the city as this project approaches its fifth year.
