Klamath Falls, Oregon – The City of Klamath Falls is looking for competent people to apply for the job of Wastewater Collections Operator Associate. This is an important job that helps keep the city’s stormwater and wastewater systems running smoothly. The associate will do important operations, maintenance, and repair work that keeps Klamath Falls’ wastewater infrastructure reliable. They will work under the leadership of the Wastewater Collection Supervisor or Systems Manager.

Following DEQ and EPA rules about collecting and treating wastewater is one of the things that is done every day. The associate will use a variety of tools for cleaning, inspecting, and digging to do system maintenance and repairs, such as replacing sewer and storm lines or installing Cured-In-Place Pipe Patch (CIPP). Other tasks include going into tight spaces, controlling traffic when necessary, keeping a record of daily actions, and using the City’s computerized maintenance management system to keep track of and report on things. During seasonal operations, the function may also involve helping with snow removal and other department-wide tasks.

Candidates must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED. They must get an Oregon Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement within six months of starting work, as well as the mandatory State of Oregon certifications in Traffic Control and Confined Space Entry/Attendant within 90 days. Also, candidates must pass the State of Oregon Wastewater Collections Operator Grade I Examination within two years, but it is best if they do it during the first year. It is also helpful to know how to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Tyler systems.
The job pays between $19.50 and $28.06 per hour (Grade 108) and comes with a full benefits package that includes health and life insurance, participation in the State of Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and more.
