Klamath County, Oregon – Oregon State Police confirmed the arrest of two men on Thursday near the community of Sprague River in Klamath County. The arrests follow the discovery of a body earlier this week in a remote area near the river.
Officers with the Oregon State Police SWAT team took 30-year-old Russell Dwayne Carroway and 31-year-old Devin Tyler Pellerin, both residents of Sprague River, into custody. The two are suspected in the killing of 47-year-old Robert T. Hein of Bellingham, Washington.
On Tuesday, a hunter came across Hein’s body near the Sprague River and notified authorities. While the exact cause of death has not yet been released, law enforcement quickly launched a homicide investigation that led to the arrests just days later.
OSP officials have not provided further details on how Hein may have died or what the possible motive might be. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and speak with potential witnesses.
As the investigation remains active, authorities are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center dispatch at 800-442-2068, or dial *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone. Callers should reference case number SP25-414701 when providing information.
Police have not announced any charges yet, and both Carroway and Pellerin remain in custody as investigators continue piecing together what led to Hein’s death.
