Salem, Oregon – The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs (ODVA) has started the application process for its Veteran Services Grant Program. This means that organizations throughout the state can apply for money to help Oregon veterans. The 2025 Legislature gave ODVA permission to give out $972,653 in grants this time. The goal of these awards is to make it easier for veterans in rural, urban, and Tribal communities to get important services.
The program can give up to $250,000 to each organization, which is done through a competitive assessment procedure. Grants will go to projects that help with big problems, like health and mental health care, housing stability and preventing homelessness, employment possibilities, education and training, getting around, and other important support services. ODVA wants to improve long-term outcomes for veterans across the state by focusing on these areas.

A wide range of applicants can apply for the program, as long as they are able to provide useful services. Tribal governments, regional and municipal governments, Oregon quasi-public bodies, and intergovernmental groups that were set up by state law can all apply. Also, private nonprofit groups that have been in business for at least a year and have been granted federal tax-exempt status under 501(c)(3), 501(c)(19), or 501(c)(23) are welcome to submit ideas.
ODVA Director Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels emphasized the importance of collaboration, noting that partnerships with diverse organizations are critical to reaching veterans where they live.

“Partnering with diverse organizations throughout Oregon is crucial to ensure that every veteran in our state has access to the full range of earned benefits, services and resources they need in their own homes and communities,” said ODVA Director Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels.
“This grant is an invitation to collaborate on community-led projects that improve veterans’ lives, promoting their health and wellbeing, secure housing, stable employment, educational opportunities, accessible transportation, and other critical services.”
