Oregon opens $972,000 grant program to boost services for veterans statewide

Salem, Oregon – The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs has opened up a new round of funding for its Veteran Services Grant Program. They are looking for applications that would help veterans in Oregon’s rural, urban, and Tribal communities get more services and reach more people. The goal of the program is to expand local solutions that help veterans where they live and make it easier for them to get the help they need.

The program will give out competitive grants of up to $250,000 to groups who help veterans directly at no cost. The 2025 Legislature approved $972,653 for the program. The ODVA’s mission is to fund programs that make a real difference in important areas like health and behavioral health care, housing security and homelessness, job prospects or stability, education and training, and access to transportation. Proposals that meet other important community needs are also considered.

“Partnering with diverse organizations throughout Oregon is crucial to ensure that every veteran in our state has access to the full range of earned benefits, services and resources they need in their own homes and communities,” said ODVA Director Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels. “This grant is an invitation to collaborate on community-led projects that improve veterans’ lives, promoting their health and wellbeing, secure housing, stable employment, educational opportunities, accessible transportation, and other critical services.”

A lot of service providers can be eligible. Tribal, regional, or local governments; quasi-public agencies in Oregon; intergovernmental entities in Oregon that were created under Oregon Revised Statute 190; and private nonprofit organizations with federal 501(c)(3), 501(c)(19), or 501(c)(23) status and at least one year of operations can apply. A competitive approach will be used to give out all awards.

Organizations who want to participate should send in an Intent to Apply to sign up for the session and get information throughout the open proposal period.

The deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. on October 13, 2025. ODVA suggests that anyone who want to apply plan ahead, gather the necessary paperwork, and make sure their plans fit with the program’s goal on providing veterans with direct, no-cost assistance.
