Klamath Falls, Oregon – Thirty years in public safety can be measured in promotions and job titles. But in Klamath Falls, Chief Rob Dentinger’s career also reflects decades of showing up for the same community, from his earliest days as a reserve officer to his current role leading the city’s police department.
That long record of service took center stage during recent Klamath Falls City Council meeting, where Dentinger was recognized for reaching a major professional milestone: 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Klamath Falls.

Dentinger’s connection to the Klamath Falls Police Department began even earlier. He joined the agency as a Reserve Officer in 1992, gaining experience while serving the community in a supporting law enforcement role. Four years later, in 1996, he became a full-time police officer.
From there, Dentinger built a career that would span three decades and include numerous responsibilities within the department. City officials credited him with demonstrating leadership, professionalism and a steady commitment to public safety throughout those years.

His progression eventually placed him at the head of the department. Dentinger was appointed Klamath Falls Chief of Police in 2021, taking responsibility for leading the agency where his career began.
The City Council recognition highlighted more than the amount of time Dentinger has spent in uniform. It also marked the continuity of a career rooted in one department and one community. Beginning as a reserve officer, moving into full-time police work and later becoming chief, his service has stretched across different roles and periods of change for Klamath Falls.

Now, more than three decades after first joining the department in 1992, Dentinger continues to lead its officers and serve the city.
The Klamath Falls Police Department thanked him directly for his longstanding commitment.
“Thank you, Chief Dentinger, for your commitment to our community and to the Klamath Falls Police Department. We are grateful for your service,” the department wrote in the release.

The recognition offered city leaders and department members an opportunity to look back on Dentinger’s professional journey while also acknowledging that his work is continuing. His 30-year milestone celebrates a career already defined by service, but it is not a farewell. Dentinger remains Chief of Police and continues to guide the department he joined as a reserve officer more than three decades ago.
