Memorial Day Parade returns May 26, honoring military service and sacrifice

Klamath Falls, Oregon – On Monday, May 26, the residents of Klamath Falls will mark Memorial Day with a parade through the heart of downtown. The Veterans Advisory Board is putting on the event to honor those who have served and sacrificed in the nation’s armed forces.

Individuals will start getting ready for the parade early. All of the participants will meet on Spring Street, just south of Main Street, before the procession starts. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. and making its way along Main Street. It is expected to end at Veterans Park by 11:00 a.m. This year, residents and visitors will see a lot of different floats, local clubs, and veterans’ groups taking part in the event.

If you plan to go to or through downtown on Monday, you should know that Main Street will be closed to cars starting around 9:00 a.m. and lasting until about noon. During these hours, the city is asking drivers to seek alternative routes and to pay close attention to any diversion signs and directions from traffic control staff who are stationed within the area.

City officials also ask everyone who is going to be in the downtown area to be particularly careful, both for the safety of the people in the procession and for the protection of everyone else. As more people are likely to be out and about, it’s particularly important to be patient and drive carefully.
