Oregon – Senator Ron Wyden is going back on the road in Eastern Oregon. He has announced five town halls that are open to everyone from July 25 to July 27. As part of his long-standing promise to hold at least one town hall in each of Oregon’s 36 counties every year, the senator will be visiting Sherman, Wheeler, Gilliam, Morrow, and Wallowa counties.
After these meetings, Wyden will have held 1,124 town halls while in office. This shows how much he values transparency and face-to-face communication, especially in Oregon’s most rural and isolated locations.
“Our state’s location thousands of miles away from Washington, DC makes it a must that elected officials hold open-to-all town halls in communities affected by decisions made in our nation’s capital,” Wyden said.
“I’m very much looking forward to these open-to-all community meetings in Sherman, Wheeler, Gilliam, Morrow and Wallowa counties so I can hear directly from Eastern Oregon how I can keep battling for Oregon Way values as our country faces unprecedented challenges.”
The tour starts on Friday night in Sherman County, where Wyden will meet with people at the Wasco School Events Center. He’ll stop in three places on Saturday: first at Wheeler High School in Fossil, then at Veterans Memorial Hall in Condon, and finally at the SAGE Center in Boardman that afternoon. The series ends on Sunday in Enterprise, where people from Wallowa County can go to Hearts for Health Integrated Care.
Doors will open one hour before the start time for each town hall. For safety reasons, people won’t be able to bring backpacks or big bags inside the venues.
Wyden’s town halls remain an important part of how he serves the public. These events give Oregonians a chance to talk directly to their senator, ask questions, and voice their concerns. Wyden says he wants to bring the voices of these Eastern Oregon communities back to Congress while the country deals with important problems like economic recovery and environmental legislation.
