Upper-level meth supplier in the Klamath Basin now behind bars after BINET operation

Klamath Falls, Oregon – In a significant operation on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Basin Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (BINET) made an arrest in the ongoing battle against drug distribution in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Mattio Zanotto, a 66-year-old resident of Klamath Falls, was apprehended in connection with distributing methamphetamine.

The arrest took place in the 7600 block of Booth Road, following an intensive investigation by BINET into Zanotto’s activities. Identified as an upper-level methamphetamine supplier within the Klamath Basin, Zanotto became the focus of law enforcement efforts aimed at curtailing the spread of this controlled substance. The investigation involved the execution of several search warrants and a detailed review of Zanotto’s movements and operations in Klamath County.

During the operation, law enforcement intercepted Zanotto as he was leaving his Booth Road residence, at a moment when authorities believed he possessed a significant quantity of methamphetamine intended for sale. A subsequent search of Zanotto’s residence yielded approximately 3.57 pounds of methamphetamine, along with a considerable sum of United States currency suspected to be proceeds from the sale of methamphetamine. Investigators also uncovered evidence indicative of Zanotto’s involvement in the distribution of controlled substances.

Zanotto now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession, delivery, and manufacture of a controlled substance—methamphetamine—along with charges related to criminal conspiracy in connection with these activities and a parole violation.

The investigation is ongoing. Once more information becomes available, we will update this article. Residents of Klamath County are encouraged to report drug activity to the Klamath Falls Police Department Tip-Line at 541-883-5334.
