Klamath Falls residents alerted to evening flight training sessions at local base

Klamath Falls, Oregon – Klamath Falls residents should be aware that night flying operations are scheduled during the evening hours, from 6 to 11 p.m., through the end of the workweek on Friday, February 16.

The 173rd Fighter Wing began night flights as an essential part of its training for F-15C student pilots at Kingsley Field.

This night-flying session represents a crucial phase in the comprehensive training program, distinguishing the 173rd FW as the unique F-15C training base for the entire United States Air Force.

Although most of the training activities will occur in Lakeview, pilots will execute their takeoffs and landings at Kingsley Field, initiating their flights at sundown.

Senior Master Sgt. Jennifer Shirar, the public affairs superintendent for the 173rd FW, addressed the local Klamath Falls community, acknowledging that residents in proximity to the base are accustomed to the sound of flights.

However, she highlighted that during this training period, the sounds of aircraft would extend later into the evening than usual. “We fly pretty much every weekday when we’re out there doing our training,” Shirar mentioned. “The sound really isn’t that much different than what they’re already used to, it’s just going to be a different time of day.”
