Klamath Falls, Oregon – The City of Klamath Falls is currently searching for an experienced person to fill the important position of Wastewater Systems Manager. The city is about to spend $100 million to update its wastewater treatment facilities, so this is a great time to take advantage of this opportunity. This job needs someone who is knowledgeable and proactive, has an extensive background in wastewater operations, and has shown they can handle complicated projects. The Wastewater Systems Manager will be in charge of the city’s entire wastewater utility and will report directly to the Public Works Director.
This includes making plans for the future, making sure the division follows the rules, overseeing staff, managing assets, and keeping an eye on the division’s budget. The person who gets the job will also be expected to mentor personnel and interact closely with other city departments, outside agencies, contractors, and the community.
The Wastewater Division in Klamath Falls serves around 28,000 people in the Klamath Basin. The division runs a complex network that includes a wastewater treatment plant, 12 wastewater pumping stations, four stormwater pumping stations, and hundreds of kilometers of sewer and stormwater collection lines.

The treatment plants take care of an average of 3.1 million gallons of wastewater every day and serve more than 7,400 service connections. A team of 13 full-time employees works diligently to maintain and operate this extensive infrastructure.
To be eligible, applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, chemistry, biology, wastewater treatment, or a related environmental discipline, as well as three years of experience working as a Level IV Wastewater Treatment Operator.
Another option is to have an associate’s degree, a Level IV certification, and six years of work experience that has gotten better over time. Additionally, the role requires at least two years of supervisory experience, and the selected candidate must possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
