Oregon Tech triumph: Sprague’s record-breaking performance leads to unbeaten streak

Klamath Falls, Oregon – Olivia Sprague had an impressive game, almost achieving a triple-double, and set the highest number of steals for an Oregon Tech player in 20 years. Her performance played a big part in keeping the Lady Owls undefeated this season, as they won 65-39 against Northwest University at Brodin Pavilion.

Sprague’s stats for the night were 23 points, nine rebounds, nine steals, five assists, and two blocks. This win marked the Lady Owls’ ninth consecutive victory (9-0, 3-0 CCC), a feat only matched by the 2013-14 team in OIT history.

Sprague was pivotal from the start, scoring two 3-pointers early on, which overturned an initial 2-0 lead by the Eagles (1-8, 1-3). Kennedy Tull’s 3-point play extended the lead to 17-6 in the first quarter, and Kayley Elliott’s jumper pushed it further to 28-10 in the second quarter.

NU tried to close the gap, reaching 32-23 after a Maya Duchesne jumper. However, Tech dominated after halftime, stretching their lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter.

OIT’s defense was crucial, limiting the Eagles to 28% shooting and forcing them to miss 15 of 16 three-point attempts. The Lady Owls also forced 22 turnovers and maintained a significant rebound advantage.

Sprague’s nine steals are the second-highest in a single game for OIT, just one short of the record set by Samantha Gilbert against Concordia-Portland in 2003-04.

Tull scored 17 points, Gabbie Gascon added 10 points and five rebounds, and Elliott contributed seven points from the bench.

Kylie Lunday was the top scorer for NU with 14 points and six rebounds.
