Jozie Ramos shatters records: Scores career-high 24 in Oregon Tech’s dominant win

Oregon – Jozie Ramos scored 24 points in Oregon Tech’s basketball game, which was a career best and almost broke the record for most field goals made in a single game. She played well, and the Lady Owls beat Evergreen State 77–45 at Constantino Recreation Center to keep their perfect record.

Oregon Tech (12-0, 4-0 CCC) won their tenth game and kept their winning streak going. An important game will be played in Ashland against Southern Oregon, the other team in the Cascade Conference that hasn’t lost yet.

Ramos made 11 out of 12 shots, tying for second place with Courtney Clemmer (2020 against Warner Pacific) in Oregon Tech’s record for single-game field goal percentage, for players who made at least eight field goals. Brittany Cherry holds the top spot, making all 10 shots in a 2010 game against Menlo.

Evergreen State (1-6, 1-4) was ahead 9-6 at the start thanks to Sydney Vanness’s goals. But Ramos controlled the game. She made her first 3-point shot and led Oregon Tech to a run of points. A 17-0 run, with 13 of those points scored by Ramos, was helped by her work.

In the third quarter, Oregon Tech, leading 34-22, extended their lead with a 14-0 run, thanks to contributions from Tatum Schmerbach, Olivia Sprague, and Gabbie Gascon.

Oregon Tech had a successful shooting day, with a 52-percent field goal rate, while limiting Evergreen State to 26 percent and causing 24 turnovers.

Sprague, Schmerbach, and Gascon also had notable performances, contributing points, rebounds, assists, and steals. For Evergreen State, Honey Padasdao was the top scorer with 10 points and five rebounds.
